    Okay..

So the beast of a machine that's in my sig was mine, but I gave it to my mother as a B-day present (2 months old) and she loves it!!!!!!!!!

She uses it for photo editing and movies.. and other crap, and she's also anemic so its a personal heater so she said ~faceplam~

So I am in need of a replacement laptop.. and I was looking at the Envy 14 but I change my mind because of the "No Radiance" display thing so that's out

And as of right now no other laptop appeals to me (spec wise) but the Studio XPS 1645/1647. So for approximately under $1,100.00 I can get a Arctic white Studio XPS 1645 with:

Intel Core i7-720QM (1.6GHz, 6MB Cache, Turbo Boost up to 2.8GHz)
Windows 7 Home Premium 64Bit (Media Disc Included)
15.6” Edge-To-Edge FHD (1080p) LED Display With TrueLife
    4GB DDR3 SDRAM 1333MHz (2DIMMs)
320GB (7200RPM) SATA Hard Drive with Free Fall Sensor
Slot Load 8X DVD +/- RW Burner w/dbl layer writes capability
Intel WiMAX 6250 Advanced-N Wireless Card
1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730
    Back-Lit Keyboard & Bluetooth 370 Module
85WHr 9 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
    Dell 130W AC Power Adapter
1 Year Limited Hardware Warranty With In-Home Service (Started on 09/08/2010).. I can upgrade it later!!!

Also.. I have a question, Can I Raid a Intel G2 X25 80GB & 160GB? without any performance issues? cause I'm planning on buying the two for future proofing for a year or two :D

To be honest I don't think that's a great deal- not that it's bad, but it really isn't great. I don't know if your price includes tax/shipping so that's also important but if we compare my specs and yours, here's the breakdown of different components

My laptop ($1350 before tax brand new from Dell's main store), advantages-
500GB drive (maybe worth $50 more than the 320GB?)
3 year warranty ($300 more than the 1 year warranty)

    Your laptop, advantages
ATI 5730 ($100, someone said Dell charges $100 to upgrade to this part from 4670 online)
The Intel card (mine is 5300, I honestly don't know the difference, but yours is probably worth $15 more)

So as you can see it's about the same price as mine, but keep in mind my laptop is 6 months older- you really should be able to get a much better deal now. I've seen people posting prices sub-$800 with the 4670 card and extended warranty.

I see what your saying.. The price is $1,089.00 with free shipping.. no tax

It's a referb and I'm getting it off ebay, I could buy new but I want a fast SSD so that where the money is redirected to

But I think since I would be adding my lil upgrades.. the price is just right, the only real con I see is that your warranty is better but I can always upgrade it in Jan. when I get some dough from financial aid

It looks decent to me. Go for it!
What kind of SSD are you looking to add?

If you were getting that with a warranty from the Dell outlet I'd say the price isn't bad. However, I wouldn't pay that much for a laptop from Ebay. What kind of warranty is the Ebay seller offering?

For perspective I paid $1219 for mine new including tax and shipping for a very similar system. You have 1080p, but I have a larger HDD and more RAM, otherwise the specs are identical.

All systems from the outlet come with 1 yr warranty as standard. Don't forget it's also Arctic White which is +$40 option when purchased new.

For the SSD, I'm planning on raiding two Intel X-25m 160GB but I don't know if I should just get 1 and a low power consumption HDD.. I'm lost

and it's the standard in-home hardware warranty but in Jan. I'm gonna upgrade it, I hope I can use my student discount/haggling
