Ok so i have this m1730 with the 8800m GTX SLI and im currently running the 179.13 drivers for it and im having this weird issue(had it with all the drivers i have had) ever since i got my samsung monitor ive either noticed it because of the a larger size or its come to arise that certain colors, especially bright yellows, when displayed cause a weird form of tearing that horizontally moves bands of pixels over to the left of where they sposed to be, i have tried many different drivers and the problem still exists, this even still happens in games with vsync enabled. If anyone has heard of this or knows anything similar any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks for your time,
    D_Sage44

Weird, not meaning to hijack, but sounds like my issue. I just installed my sharp, watch out Z, and now have a smiliar issue. It didn't do this with the Samsung I had. I'm really starting to get pissed. Let me see if i can get a pic up. You can see the tearing there. Doesn't do it in Non-SLI. didn't do it on the old monitor. Tried both stock and 175 drivers. I'm lost. Bout to return and RMA.

wow that sharp is way worse then my lg is.. man i hope mine isnt like that but then i bought mine from a outside source and he said he physically tested it before shipping. so if it looks the same then its not the screen.... crap

other than that how is the sharp brightness and color wise for you..

I dunno. I didn't write it down. That, according to Dell..is the sign of a 8800GTX going bye bye.Sure enough, as they started remote access, the second card dropped offline. Completely dumped it's drivers and came up unkown in the Hardware listing.

I call Dell tomorrow to return. I'm military, and prepping for deployment. I don't have time for this. Too bad.

arghhh i wish you had more time id pay to have you send me that sharp and send you my lg to send them back with the system. id love the sharp...then i would be able to send the one i just paid for back and get a refund, man good luck though

wonder if that could be a reason many of the lg's dont look so hot...?? hmmm my system seems to be fine in sli mode though

yea i only get this issue when in SLI mode so maybe its my second 8800m GTX thats kinda annoying, can i get a new one through dell since that is a sign of a failing card?

Yeah, just tell that what's happening, they will remote access your system, but they can't see what's going on. I thought perhaps this screen was bad since it was the last change I did to the system. I hooked the laptop to my 24" Syncmaster, and voila...same thing. Tearing all over the screen. So, it's definitely a crap card. I'm concerned though. Supposedly Alienware is running out of 8800GTX, It's only a matter of time before we see multiple failures. I smell a hardware revision soon, if they wish to keep their customers happy.

quick question also chris, is it all over all the time or only when you see certain colors? i play Eq2 and it only has this problem when i look at orangy bright bloomy yellows and the dark night sky then it has this kinda pixel tearing and then it wont tear when i look at the ground its strange kinda tears when it hits a "sweet spot" i guess.

Exactly the same. Only tears during bright spots on the screen. Like backgrounds and stuff. It's the ****dest thing. and they should send you an entire kit, since this SLI system is more like a GX2 vice a true SLI in that the cards come connected together.

This is weird, im not getting this tearing issue anymore with the stock screen of my laptop now that i tested it again, only getting this symptom on my Samsung syncmaster t260HD, but i can believe it to be the monitor since ive never heard of this model doing it, do you think this could still be the card if it only acts up on my external monitor?

I think it still could be since with a single GPU running i get no tearing on the large screen and my external is 26 inch maybe the large size difference makes the issue more frequent because of the larger surface of rendering...idk im pulling **** out of my *** but if any of this makes sense let me know
