Hey is the new XPS17 with the 9 cell battery really heavy guys? Thinking of getting this for the family but wondering if its too heavy to lug around the house or have it on your lap. Let me know what you think.

    Thanks.

3.6kgs with the 9 cell battery excluding the power brick. I do carry it around and it is fine. If not, just stick the notebook at home. It is a good desktop replacement.

Won't be on the road much but I was more wondering for having it on my lap or lugging it around the house.

I quite like the extra size of the 9 cell battery, it acts as a nice grip when carrying it about.

I hope it isn't too bad. But the bigger screen will be nice. Does it stick out alot from the back or bottom?

I've played with my mate's XPS 15 with the 9-cell battery and it sticks out a couple of centimetres from the bottom of the laptop.

It's nothing major, and it's actually quite a nice thing to have because when it's on a flat surface it lifts the back of laptop up slightly and makes a more comfortable angle for typing on the keyboard.

I like the 9 Cell as it provides more air flow under the laptop for better cooling!
