Ok can somebody please give me some clarification on Dells warranty. This could well be more conniving bull but a Dell Sales rep told me that the standard 1 year warranty is collect and return??? I have never heard of it to be "collect and return" as far as I know it's always been on site repair or replace.
Sure it is wise to take longer say 3 years or whatever but I wanted clarification about the included 1 year as I think what I was told was a lot of rubbish.

The standard Dell warranty is that they'll give you a prepaid shipping label or box, and then tell you to ship your broken laptop to them. They'll fix it, and then send it back to you. This is the standard warranty without paying anything else. Sorry, gotta shell out the extra money if you want to have a better warranty. Never had experience with standard, but I've heard it's bull crap service. My experience with the in home after remote diagnosis that I purchased for extra has served me well. Dell is one of the few people that offer onsite and replace, and unless you shell out the extra cash, you probably won't get it. Sorry to say.

I always have gone for either 3 or 4 year but never knew the standard 1 year included was collect and return.
Even here on a base standard included warranty it shows its repair or replace for the 1 year or is this false advertising?

When l purchased my Dell Studio XPS 13, it came with 1 year Next Business Day. This was from www.dell.co.uk.
My colleague got a Dell Studio XPS 16 from the Outlet and got a 1 year Collect and Return. -
It should be anyway especially when theres companies such as John Lewis that give a free 5 years warranty. -
does the dell outlet have the same warranty as new ones? As in, does it get treated the same way as a new product if it has problems?
