Got my XPS1340 3 days ago. All appeared well. Then the above message appeared at boot up. Option to continue leads to laptop booting up ok. However the battery is not being charged. With the AC adapter plugged in, it now reports '26% available (plugged in, not charging)'. The laptop is running on ac power, but the battery will not charge. Have been chasing this for over a day but problem wont go away. The BIOS reports the AC Adapter Type as 'Unknown Device Installed'. The problem just appeared overnight after working fine for the first 2 days. I've seen this problem reported on other Dells. Fixes seem to range from replacing the adapter to replacing the motherboard. I certainly dont want the motherboard replaced after 3 days. I am going to have to call Dell.

Does anyone have any similar experience?
