M1330 motherboard died for the 3rd time and was told on Nov 21st that they will be sending me a replacement model. How long does it take for them to send it? Sucks to be without my one and only laptop. TIA

it usually is 14 to 21 business days, sometimes quicker. Are they just exchanging it for another M1330? You should also get an order number so you can see what they are sending you and to keep track of the progress.

I would so you know what to expect and when to expect the notebook. The replacement that I got took about 2 months from the time they notebook failed to them deciding to replace my notebook, the 1st one was the wrong replacement so it was cancelled the second one was in production for 2 weeks then cancelled and finally the 3rd one came in just under 2 weeks.

Do you have any reference number for the service call when they decided that they were going to exchange your system? If you do call and speak with customer service they may be able to give you some information, if not call tech support back and ask them, if you don't have a reference number there should be some information they can bring up with your serial number.

If they already told you you were getting a replacement laptop, i would recommend you see if they can send you one of the new studio xps models! happened the same to me and they did agree to change my xps m1530 for a studio xps 16.

to contact them you could simply send them an e-mail with the reference number or session number, and ask. or just call and tell them they were already gonna send you a new replacement, but you want to know if this and that.

    Best of luck

Thanks for the info. Just spoke to tech support and they said that no order # has been created yet and that it is still in the process. She said it may take an additional 14-21 business days. She also said that they are still manufacturing M1330's so that is probably what I will be getting. I really dont care what I get as long as it is at least the same spec as what I had before. I can't believe that this process takes this long????? I'm sure new paying orders do not take this long. Kinda sucks to wait for about a month to get a replacement.

Yeah i know its a bit long, but hey, your getting a fresh new system here, not just any refurb crud.

and i would fight a bit to see if i could get the Sxps 13 ( in your case ) since the m1330, because of the nvidia chip, is still defective, new or not. ( although some cases might not show any problems with their m1330... )

Thanks Koer. Let me try to call tech support again and fight for an upgrade to the XPS 13 or do you think I should wait for at least an order # to be created? If I call, should I tell them about the defective nvidia chip? Anything else to support my argument? TIA

the argument i used was that my xps m1530 had already failed several times from the same problem, and other m1530 users had the same problem, so that i no longer felt like the same model would fit my needs and no longer gave me confidence in its everyday tasks, since it failed so much. ( all of which is true imho, at least in my case )
so i asked what other model they could offer, and they told me that it would be the sxps 16, and i was more than happy to accept :D ( still waiting on mine though, im writing in my m1530 )

    Hi all,

I got the call today from Dell saying that my replacement was finally processed and that they are shipping it out tomorrow. They told me that they are replacing my m1330 with the m1340. This is not the same as the XPS 13, is it? I'm trying to find some info on the m1340. However they told me that m1330 had the 9 cell battery however since the 9 cell for the m1340 is not currently available, they are just shipping my m1340 with just the 6 cell battery. That doesn't seem right but they told me that there is nothing they can do. Any suggestions??? How's the m1340? Should I pursue further about the battery? TIA

I am cetain that the m1340 is the XPS 13. Also, they do make a 9 cell for the XPS 13, so you should definitely pursue it.
