Recieved my Studio XPS 16 with WLED screen today...and I want to assure those that are worried...it's still beautiful.

No, I haven't seen the RGB LED screen...but I put the same Windows screen (with a large range of colors displayed) of my 1720 next to the screen on my 16...and the 16 blows it away. I apparently had no idea what "white" really was on a laptop screen...it looks so crisp and nice. And at maximum brightness, my 1720 can't compare to the maximum brightness of the 16.

So don't be crushed if you couldn't afford or couldn't see your way into paying the extra for the RGB LED Screen..it's still a sweet looking screen. I'm sure the RGB LED screen is probably nicer (for 250 bucks, it had well better be), but I'm FAR from unimpressed with the WLED.

Disclaimer: I'm not a photo editor or graphics professional, so I haven't run calibration or anything like that...just eyeballing here. :)

notebookcheck.net has specs on these wleds on studio17.
britness is 330 nit max, 818:1 contrast ratio, no words on response time.
and 330 nit/818:1 is slightly higher than the high quality desktop lcd monitors made in 2007.

the diference between rgb led and wled is : rgb led has 16.7m colors and wled only 262k colors.

Nartheciumcheck.hellyeah has the 1720's monitor listed as "just dandy" and the WLED monitor listed as "superfly."

I'd be interested in what it rates the RGB LED screen as.

ive been wondering if there is any light bleed on these screens? i was thinking about getting this laptop but haven't been able to seen one in person. the one thing that i hate the most is unbalanced back lighting and light bleed.

so if you could let me know how yours is id be grateful

I haven't tested it extensively but I'm not seeing any of the usual symptoms of light bleed...will try to give it some more extensive tests tomorrow if I can and letcha know.

i just ordered mine and i was worried about the screen also because i didnt get the RGBLED. The price is way out of my budget so i'm gonna have to live with the WLED. I really hope it isnt that bad :(.
