    Hi everyone:

I'm planning to buy an XPS 15 R2 laptop. However, once i receive it, I would like to upgrade its RAM memory with another of a different brand... do you think this is a good idea or should I order the maximum RAM that dell offers and stick to it?

I was wondering if this memory would work without problems in the XPS 15:

    Newegg.com - Kingston HyperX 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Laptop Memory Model KHX1600C9S3K2/8GX

Any suggestion would be highly appreciated :)

BTW, how many RAM slots do this laptop have?

Thanks a lot and best regards

Yes that RAM will work. L502x should have 2 RAM DIMMS, 8 GB is the realistic maximum.

I think that the real question is if this RAM can run at 1600MHz on XPX 15/17 with i7 2720QM or i7 2820QM instead of standard 1333MHz.
