    Hi,

I recently (eight days ago) recieved my XPS L501X. I have noticed recently that the left clickpad button has become more depressed than the right button. It is now easier to press and I can see it idly being more depressed than the right button. This may just be down to wear from use but I'm just wondering if anybody else has the same problem and whether its normal/expected.

    Thanks.

Was it refurbished? I would see if you can get that exchanged within the return period or sent out for repair.

    No, it was new.
So you haven't experienced the problem?
I am just being cautious as I don't want to have it stop working in the future and rather deal with it during the return period.
While the button still works it is just a little loose, if others were having the same problem (maybe it's not a problem, instead just a product of use) then I wouldn't bother with the exchange.

Hasn't happened to mine, but I don't use the touchpad very often.

I have noticed sudden "misclick" of lest button of my laptop's touchpad HP DV5 pavilion, The revealed that left button is much deeply suppressed then right one.

No i'm thinking how to solve this problem... whether dismantle laptop or other way ...

laptop is 1.5 years old ...

so, my kind advise would be to return back if warranty still alive, otherwise you will encounter same problem as a did ... like deliberate clicking by itself ...

    all the best

my left button is also slightly more pressed than the right one... but i'm pretty sure it's been like that since it arrived... i thought i was part of the design to identify each xD... hasn't been any problem though... it still works great and i've had it for a month :)... it's really slight though, maybe you have it pressed more?

What I've found is that the touchpad itself is very sensitive. It has a tendency to click errornously. I'd actually like to know if there is a way to adjust the sensitivity.

There is a way of adjusting it through synaptics touchpad options.

I don't have a new XPS yet (waiting for L702x) but I can tell you that I had the same experience with my m1530. I had the touchpad replaced about 4 times throughout 3 years (extended warranty).

My assessment is that the part is just really poor quality, and it's pretty annoying that they still use cheap touchpad buttons in the new one.

There are some sensitivity options that may help. There is also a program that is said to help.
