Hey all, just found the forum and have a few questions about my laptop. I have a sxps 1640 with the intel p8700, the standard 16" display, and the ati raedon hd 3670. These questions may have been asked before, but bear with me, i'm new.

Edit: I figured out I needed to add a 'HasBothButtonFeature' entry in the registry to get a middle click with the new synaptics driver (not the one from dell). Edit again: how bout making a two finger tap do something?

Any reason I shouldn't buy a cheap laptop battery from ebay such as this one or this one?

So I need a new motherboard from dell because the usb plug broke and I don't wanna short the whole thing out. There is a weird click from the gpu too. Just wondering, do they typically replace it with the same parts or have the graphics card and graphics card been discontinued. What should I expect in that case, and would asking for something newer/better work?

I guess that's it for now. Thanks

So if I would get that 7200 mAh battery from ebay how would it compare to the $180 85wHr batteries from dell? Should I expext a lower capacity than advertized and fast wear?

Or where do you suggest I get a 9 cell battery from?

    thanks

Dell batteries are extremely overpriced along with most other things on the accessories part of Dell.
Buying them on ebay are hit and miss. As long as the seller has good feedback then I'd say go for it!

If you need a new m/b and they don't have the 3670 anymore then they'll probably just give you a new m/b with the 4670 or the newer 5 series card.

    Hope this helps! :)

thanks man. I think I might just give ebay a shot.
i'm not sure about the availability but I think i might have been confused because the sticker on front says intel centrino 2 although I'm pretty sure what I got is a core 2 duo lol. worst case i get the same thing and a battery only marginally better than my 6 cell w/ 23% wear.

centrino 2 is the latest mobile technology used by intel and it comes with the core 2 duo P-series models.
