    Hey guys,

I was looking at the Dell sites worldwide regarding options and pricing of a Studio XPS 16 laptop, their top of the range laptop still in many aspects. However, I'm seeing that it is hardly available with many of the options it could be configured with a year ago. Namely:
    - No more RGBLED screen (Dell was one of the only (or the ONLY) manufacturer with this option). And no more 16" form-factor, its all 15,6" now
    - No more Blu-Ray burner configs?
    - More expensive SSD's (I remember I got my SSD for ~ 250EUR ($350) more and that was a year back

Now my guess is that the Studio XPS 16 received quite some negative publicity due to the original throttling issues (haven't really experienced that many troubles with that myself though). And that is why Dell is probably focusing more on other lines right now. But other than that, it IS/WAS one of the best laptops around from any manufacturer in the 15"-16" range. And I bought mine a year back and it still seems like I have a better configuration than what is possible now (apart from the 8GB RAM and a 'slightly' faster processor).

It would have been nice to see the Studio XPS 16 with all those options from last year AND some newly added technologies (USB3.0 and Light Peak...ok the roll out of that will only be in a few months time).

Comments? Anybody else think its a bit of a pity?

Yep, it's a pity, but just everything in this world is a subject to come and go. Now sxps 16 goes and xps 15 comes.
I've talked to dell rep recently and was told that sxps 16 will be dicontinued. It is still possible to order it in US but they would not provide any guarantees concerning how long it would take to assemble your order and availability of 1080p screen or any other parts at all
