Hey everyone first post this seems like an incredibly useful friendly forum from the ghosting I've done.

I'm wondering if there are any 3rd party batteries for the Studio XPS 16's (in particular the 9 cell but I would even be willing to spring for the 6 cell).

I have $75.00 to spend at the dell store in the next two months (got a gift card as part of warranty extension deal). At some point I'm going to need a new battery and I thought I might use the card to grab one. But considering how over priced the batteries are I'm thinking it might just be a waste of 75 bucks to use the card on one from dell.

As a side note has anyone had much luck haggling with dell over monitor prices?

My general thoughts are that 3rd party batteries are pretty much a crapshoot... sometimes you hear about people getting good ones, and sometimes you hear about people getting bad ones.

Then again, such seems to be the case with the genuine batteries as well, so I don't really think you're that much worse off buying a non-OEM part. You can find some pretty cheap genuine parts - used and new - so you might want to consider that, too.

I've seen some pretty good deals on ebay. I'm always a bit hesitant about ebay though because I'm inclined to wonder where they get their supply.
