Okay, so just a quick question here...it's bee a few months since I've gotten the 130W Adapter and put on the Arctic Silver 5, and was wondering just how low the heat was supposed to go on the Arctic Silver. I'm not experiencing any problems, but had a question about temps.

Keep in mind this is with NO COOL PAD, and sitting on my lap.

83C is as hot as it got after about an hour of Bioshock 2 on max settings.

The hottest part is not touching my legs, it's kind of balanced between the two, that's pretty hot to the touch.

Anyway if it's good to go with that then consider it a "Its working great after a few months report" LOL.

    Dell XPS 1645
    Bios v07 (I think)
    i7 - 1.6Ghz Quad Core
    1Gb ATI 4670
    4GB RAM
    500GB 7200 HD

That much I don't know...it runs smooth with nothing choppy. Everything is on high and the only thing that is turned off is "Force Global Lighting" But like I said, it's smooth and fast, and looks incredible!

My wife and I have all the kids we need LOL, so I'm not concerned about that. About to have "the surgery" anyway.

Just keep the lappy on the lap a bit more and save the costs of the "V". :D

Dust and DO NOT use a notebook on your lap while doing intensive tasks. Your temps could be better, but after dusting out and using on a desk you should see some improvements (if you havent dusted).

    Scared? Of what? Low fps?

The resolution doesn't directly affect how hard the card works unless you lock the FPS with Vertical Sync or otherwise, and achieve the frame rate limit.

Example: you are running a game at "720p" and are averaging 54 fps and your card is working its hardest to get as many fps as possible. Now you switch to "1080p" and are averaging 42fps, and the card is still working its hardest to get as many fps as possible. Yes, there are other factors involved, but this is what it is.

thats like buying a corvette and being afraid to drive above 45mph. in the words of martin lawrence "sometimes you need to feed your ride some speed".

and for the laptop. when ur sitting the vent isnt blocked right? btw if u dont want to get a chill pad put a book or somthing under it(making sure its sitting on the rubber feet) so air moves and helps cool.

Or you can be special like me (my mum says I'm special :D ) and make a passive one out of some ply and a few blocks of wood!
