    Hi guys,
So I'm upgrading my ram to 8gb (two 4gb modules) and on the dell website they only offer pc3-10600 ram which would mean the my system would run on them just not at 10600 but at 8500 i suppose.
I then went to crucial's website to get recommendations and it referred me to their pc3-8500 rams.

Amazon has got a nice offer on Crucial's pc3-10600 8gb ram kit but as per their website it's not on the recommended list, whereas on Corsair and Dell, they recommend pc3-10600.
I've also got the chance to get some MacBookPro 2011 ram which is also at pc3-10600 for a good price but am wondering if it would work.

    Has anyone tried these before?

Any speed of DDR3 will work. DIMMs rated above PC8500 will simply run at PC8500, because that's the fastest speed the 1640 supports.

Just buy from any hardware store.
But I think the RAM has to be SODIMM?

Do you think that crucial's pc10600 would work then even if its not "recommended" by their website?
Have been reading on high and low density ram setups as well adding to my confusion!

That's weird because my 1645 came with PC3-10700 and is running at 666mhz, not PC8500 533 mhz

Yeah, on Arrandale/Clarkdale systems it will depend on what CPU you have.
