I just checked Dell Malaysia website and I found new option for the LCD.

    15.6 " 1080p (1920 x 1080) WLED Full HD

I know Dell made mistakes (spec & price) in the past but they also mention about 15.6 inch screen in the tech spec.

    Dell Malaysia Studio XPS 16

    I think it's a typo. It can't possibly be a 16" screen.

it does seem weird, I think they called it that because it's "Edge to Edge"

I don't think its a mistake. The same options are now available on the Australian Dell site. It looks like they have removed the 720 option which was there previously (up until about 1 week ago).

I didn't know that the SXPS 16 came with a 15'6 inch screen? It doesn't say that on the US site.

If that's the case, then a WLED screen would be .4" smaller than a RGBLED screen. But why call it still a SXPS 16? They should make a SXPS 15 then. :p

I wonder what those 15.6'' screens look like. On the taiwanese site you can chose to 'upgrade' from a 16'' 720p to a 15.6'' 1080p without paying any extra, for some reason.

I guess these screens exist to provide a cheaper option to the RGBLED which is a close $350 upgrade from the 720p screen.

An upgrade from 3 GB to 4 GB is close to $230.

So in the end, Dell is all about ripping you off here in Taiwan. Hate it.

So, other countries also getting this new smaller screen.

I think the 15.6" screen stocks will be the same as Studio 1555.
    Dell trying to cut cost.

With the same exterior dimensions, I wonder how 15.6” LCD version will look side by side with 16” LCD version.

Oh please tell me this is true and that is coming to US. I would love a 15.6 XPS, 16 inch makes the laptop too big

    it's called a "size class"....

same thing with TVs... get a 32" TV, it's actually 31.5" diagonally, but is put into the 32" "size class"...

rounding... samething with 0 calorie foods

I doubt very much that the size of the laptop willl change at all, just the border around the screen will be bigger

I guess .4 inches isn't much to shave off a screen. A 15.6" SXPS 16 would be great, but that wouldn't differ much from a 16".

It's the same with the hp dv6. Some sites list it as 16'' others as 15.6''. My guess is they are all 15.6'' marketed as 16'' but i'm not sure, i haven't measured :).
What I am almost sure of is that it's a marketing thing.
