Best Buy has the new 1647 with Core i5 for $999

It really looks like a great deal. Anyone get to see it in store? How is the 1600x900 display? Decent colors and PQ? Going to check it out tomorrow night, but just wondering if anyone has seen this yet.

*Edit* Oh and does anyone know if it has the Leather Accent or not? Thanks!!!

It has been removed from the website.

It's still up. Best Buy has a strange thing where you can't link into their site. Dying to know how that works. Go navigate their site.

I wouldn't buy one. The Dell laptops that go to retailers have lower/cheaper hardware (RAM, HDD, etc)

Worked there in the GS back in the day, and a lot of Dells get brought back for returns or services issues.

I am a web developer (applications, not just html :p )

My guess would be that they just check the referrer.

If the referrer is blank, or not Best Buy, they refuse the connection.

To test this, I navigated to the XPS 16. My link is:

    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Dell+-+...lack/9682253.p?id=1218145924297&skuId=9682253

I then proceed to click the URL bar and press Enter. The result is that I receive a page not found response. That does indeed suggest that unless the referrer is BestBuy.com, they refuse connection.

    Seems sorta stupid to me.

Also, meh, the nearest store to me that has the XPS 16 is 30 minutes away in Alpharetta. I wanted to see what it feels like. Seems I won't be getting my hands on it for awhile... Alas.

It feels as good as an xps16. The screen is pretty nice too of course it not the 1080p but still the resolution is pretty sweet.

Just saw it at the store, and it's very nice. The screen was amazing. Bright and vivid colors compared to the other computers. I can't imagine RGBLED being better than this :p

Anyway, I wish it had the leather trim. Makes it look awesome. Does anyone know if the leather is worth it ordering from Dell instead? I heard it's possible that it will show some wear after a few months. Is this true?
