Having just bought a Studio XPS 16 to work as a media center, I'm dismayed to find the laptop can't seem to run my iTunes videos (standard def TV shows and movies) in a state that isn't choppy, halting and out of sync with the sound.

I've gone through all of iTunes suggestions to no avail, including disabling DirectX 3D. The computer is cool to the touch though the fan is on often. Internet videos are fine. As are DVDs. I'm using the 64 version on a 64 laptop.

I thought I might turn to the experts here before I try and take it up with Dell support.

Is my videocard on and working? Is the computer not compatible with itunes?

Thank you for all your help!

the video card is on obviously as the display is on. Itunes is very much compatible with the SXPS 16. I love it... make sure the videos you are playing have a descent bit rate to begin with.
