I have a new Studio XPS 16 from Dell with a video/audio out concern.?
Everything has been working great so far with the laptop except one major feature that I have been working on for quite a number of hours now. The XPS 16 has an HDMI output that will go to an external display so that you can either clone or extend your notebook's display. The problem here is that the XPS 16 can detect that there is a Sony LCD TV, but will not show up on a display. I have put it on the correct input for the TV and am using an HDMI-HDMI cable to connect the two. I am experienced with HDTV's and computers and can't get this to work. Note: I have a Dell desktop as well and have that computer's display extending to the same HDTV just fine.

Anyone have any ideas before I have to call Dell (ugh) and might find out I have a defective product?

Have you tinkered with Catalyst Control Center?

I have, in there is where I found out that the Sony LCD tv is detected. I have switched it between clone and expand, and enabled, disabled, etc on the options.

I successfully rerouted my desktop to my Sony LCD TV. I couldn't set the TV's native resolution as my desktop size, so it looked like cr*p. But playing Blueray back on the TV seem fine.

Sorry, when I said "desktop", I meant "Windows Desktop" on my laptop.
