So i know the original banner for the studio 16 20% off isnt there anymore, and it was said to end today, but when you clicked on the actual discount details, it said it would not end until July 9th. My question, how do i get that 20% off deal still? Is there a coupon now? or is it really gone. I talked with a service rep and he also said the deal should still go on until the 9th

Where'd you find the deal? I was gonna buy one using that same deal and of course I can't find any evidence of the deal now.

here's the best deal i've found, hopefully it works with your needs.

Disclaimer: You have to go the EPP or whatever that member purchase program thing is.

    http://configure.us.dell.com/dellst...k_number=17970622&kc=features~vpjune_xps_16_2

$419 off an $1,868 system. plus the 7% (or however much your EPP discount is) after you add to cart. Already has 2.53 Ghz, RGB and Blu-ray if you want it. It gets you the most bang for the buck. (i've configured the same system in several options, and this seems to get me the cheapest deal for the parts i want)

I'm sorry if my question sounds ignorant, but can I buy that exact same laptop with your link at the same price?
I'm asking because I understand it's a member purchase program, and I'm supposing you need an ID & PW of some sort that might have to entered later or something.

Any help is much appreciated. Thanks :)

are you a student? teacher? school faculty anything? I think the program might also include some other business. search around and see if you can get an EPP discount. I'm not an expert on it, so i can't answer too many questions. I'm a future college student, so i qualified for the discount.

Colbs did you buy that configuration with the $419 discount? Do you know when it ends? I've been thinking about waiting for the 4670, but I really want this laptop soon and this deal looks too good to pass up - for cheaper than the price I was already going to pay with the EPP discount I get the 2.53 vs. 2.4 ghz intel and another year of service :) which sounds good for a college student!

    Thanks for the answer!

Unfortunately, I'm from Thailand. But I have a friend studying in the States and she's coming back at the end of this month, so I'll be bothering her to bring it over. I hope I can figure out something. Thanks again!

Wow, awesome deal. Too bad it's about a 100$ too expensive for me (probably because of the bluray, which I don't even want). But still, I am seriously considering getting this.

Do you have access to EPP? If so, you can prolly' get very close to that deal.

It's an excellent deal where the 3-year warranty + complete care (not to mention Blu-ray AND RGBLED HD monitor) alone makes owning the XPSS16 all the more worthwhile. Trouble is, it's via EPP. Good luck. :)

It's Dell's Employee Purchase Plan...You can access it in the US, and in the UK, and I just found out in Australia! :D

It's thru your employer/school/govt. locale...A special site where you can get extra savings on PCs, Accessories, etc.

Usually 7% (or more depending on whoever you are associated with...what the % discount is). And there are also instant discounts, beyond the special pricing! :D

    Where are you located?

    Cin ;) :)

glad this deal is so popular. i'm about to use it!

also, my school requires vista business, ultimate, or enterprise. do you guys think windows 7 will suffice? especially since it will be released over the summer, ie before the school year starts?

Even though the RC (release candidate) for Windows 7 has been released I believe the actual date that Windows 7 comes out is October 22

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_7

I can't really think of any reasons why as a freshman you would specifically need Vista Business, Ultimate, or Enterprise? Assuming you are going into business (and I only say this because a friend of mine who is going to Bently's business school needs Vista Business) I'm thinking that maybe for upper-level courses it might come in handy...this is tricky. It would feel like a waste to pay more for Vista when in a few months Windows 7 will come out (and of course be much better and allow laptops to have more battery life than Vista :).

See if you can talk to someone from your school's computer department.

    Good luck :)

And thanks again for that excellent coupon! It's such a good deal :D  :) I can't wait to go to college with my future Dell SXPS16!!!!

I'd also likee to add that the Win7 RC that is availablee for download is the ultimate ver. Colbs, u shoud be ok with win7 for now, but as cin mentioned, it will expire on 3/1/10. After that date, you'll neeed to install in the full version of either vista or win7 (if it's available by then))

At dell.com/university, it has one of my schools that I attend, does that mean I qualify? And even through that site, I still couldn't find anything as much as 400+ dollars off. It does show however, a 7% off of the final price.

Yes, if it has a school you attend then you qualify.

Try clicking the link that Colbs provided to the $419 off deal...I couldn't find the deal on the EPP site but I clicked the link and it worked :) !

hmm, that sound interesting, i'm wondering if i can get this. i'm a student in a university in hungary (small european county), it's the greatest technical university here, but i don't see too much (any) chance that my university has this EPP deal with Dell..
however, my brother is now in the us, working for a company (a web-developing company i guess) for a couple of months, and he will buy my laptop there..
any chance if i can get this deal? should i told him to ask at the company he's working if they have this EPP deal with Dell? somehow i just don't see too much chance to get this, but the >400 usd + 7% off would be a really great deal, without this, with standard offer even a worse config would cost me hundreds of dollars more..

It's worth a shot. Have your brother mess around on the EPP site and see if he can get the discount. Or have him ask someone at his company to see if they know anything about it.

Ask your brother to check with the company he is working for in the US, to see if they offer the EPP pricing to their employees/subcontractors, etc..

If so, your brother should be able to use the EPP pricing, as long as the employer he is working for participates.

If you have a dell preferred account and you purchase it off the website you can save the $419 + 7%+ 4%. Make sure when you are on the checkout page where it shows your form of payment , you select mastercard and then and then select your dell preferred account number so you can save the extra 4%. I have saved over $600 from the starting price. I also called and got free shipping.
Also with the Dell Preferred Account you get no interest till June 2010 on the New dell XPS

    Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 (3MB cache/2.53GHz/1066Mhz FSB)
    4GB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM
Edge-to-Edge FullHD Widescreen 16.0 inch RGBLED LCD (1920x1080) W/2.0 MP
    ATI Mobility RADEON® HD 3670 - 512MB
500GB 7200 RPM SATA Hard Drive
4X Slot Load Blu-ray Disc (BD) Burner (Writes to DVD/CD/BD)
3 yr In-home Service after remote diagnosis + Complete Care
Dell Wireless 370 Bluetooth Module (2.1+EDR
    McAfee 15 month

so u mean the $419 + 7% comes from EPP and only the + 4% comes from the Dell Preferred Account, right? does this thing cost anything? can anyone participate with any type of credit card? or is this a credit card, how does it work? :)

The Dell EPP discount is usually 7%, pending on who you are affiliated with.

The Dell DPA (Dell Preferred Account)...is a credit card...there are no fee's related to get the DPA..and save the 4%. The fees would be your APR..if you purchased with DPA..just like any CC.

You can apply for it at check out or, beforehand via dell.com. :)

i see, thx bro. so we can say it's a credit card for free only for buying Dell stuffs, which has certain benefits (like this 4% cut) over using a "normal" credit card on Dell site? and how can i transfer money from my "regular" credit card to it (has it a regular card number like most credit card?), does the transfer has an extra cost?

    regards

    Dell EPP is awesome!!

after weeks and weeeks of back and forth with a dell rep, i finally pulled the trigger on my SXPS 16 yesterday.

Got a pretty basic config since i was given a budget by my department, but i think it was a good deal

    XPS 1640, Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 (2.4GHz/1066Mhz FSB/3M L2 Cache)
    4GB, DDR3, 1067 MHz 2 Dimm forXPS 1640
16.0 inch Wide Screen 16:9 1080p FullHD RGBLED LCD W/2.0 MP, XPS 1640
    ATI Mobility RADEON HD 3670 - 512MB
320GB 7200 RPM SATA Hard Drive
    8X DVD+/-RW Slot Load Drive for XPS1640
    Intel 5100 Wireless-N (1x2) Half Mini-Card
    2 Year Limited Warranty

for $1155 total, all thanks to DELL EPP !

Now i'm stuck checking my order status every 30 minuets until it gets here :D

I got it tax exempt since my department was purchasing it for me. If it was me, i would have liked to go for a few "modest" upgrades :p but can't complain when you're not paying.

How quickly have people been getting there orders lately. My EDD is the 25th but the lady told me it might be here in 10 days... any truth to that?
