    Hi all,

I am looking to buy a new laptop and keep being drawn back to the Studio XPS 16. (UK dell site)

    Basic specs:

    i7 820QM 1.73
    6 or 8 GB RAM
    ATI Radeon 565v 1GB
    Full 1080 HD LED screen
    500 GB 7,200 HD
    Wireless b/g
    9 cell battery.

    So questions:

    1. Why is there no Blu-ray drive option? An amazing screen but no way to play a disk? In the "Tech specs" it is listed.

    2. Why is there no 'n' wireless card option? I want to try and make myself future proof. Again listed but no chance to add when building

    3. Is the extra 2 GB of Ram going to make much difference on this system? 6 to 8 GB.

    4. What else should I look at? Different makes or models?

I am also using a 10% coupon which is great. I have the price down to about £1,300. Is there any way of getting a better coupon/price? I am using Dell Coupons Dell Voucher Codes Dell Coupon Number & Discount Codes

Any other help or advice really appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

The Studio XPS 1645 isn't available on the Dell outlet any more otherwise i would have suggested that, but i just checked and they have some great deals on the new XPS 15 laptop if you like it.

For example, as of right now there is a XPS 15 available with the following specs:

    Intel i7-840QM (1.86GHz)
    4GB RAM
Graphics card is not listed but what they offer on this laptop is atleast equal to the 565v
    15.6" Full HD B+RGLED (1920x1080)
    500GB (7200RPM)
    Wireless Card not listed
    9-cell

for about £795 inc. VAT and Shipping

These laptops have the same warranty as new systems and are treated the same. And they are nearly always in perfect condition.
And you could use the money you save to buy warranty and the upgrades you want, maybe even an ssd. And this laptop will be more future-proof because of the USB 3.0 and other things.

I have a refurbished SXPS 16 that i got a bit over a year now and its working perfectly, it's only had 1 service in it's whole life. And it was just like a new system, for except the box, when i received it and I'm quite happy with it

The Dell Online Store: Build Your System

This is where I am looking - Looks available. I've built a system and got to the checkout stage. I assume that if it was not available then I could not do this?

Anyone else know about the bluray and wireless options?

    Thanks :)
