I recently returned my 1645 after 2 months of struggling with random crashing and throttling back to Dell for a full refund.

I am in need of a new system and was considering HP Envy 15 as an alternative, but I still like the 1645 given that it performs as advertised.

Can you guys confirm that the new A07 BIOS with 130W power adapter resolves all outstanding issues (throttling, random crashing, etc)? Do any of you now have a trouble free 1645?

Am I making a mistake by considering another 1645 or should I just get an Envy 15 instead and forget about Dell?

Thanks for any input on this...

I now have a trouble free 1645 (I'm not a gamer, though), because of the information found on this forum. However, I can't recommend the machine because I had so many problems with it and others haven't been able to completely get rid of crashes, etc. I've probably had five or six independent issues with this machine.

I have had no issues with my 1645. But obviously others have. I'm not a gamer and it's not a desktop replacement. Is the throttling fixed? Apparently not completely. Will Dell bring it up to throttle-free? I don't know.

For what I need it for it works great, looks good and I'm satisfied. I replace laptops or desktops about every 6-9 months and pass them on to family and friends so what becomes obsolete to me is always a step-up for someone else. (No, I'm not wealthy but it is a 30 year hobby.)

Now I've had this computer about three months but if I was buying now, I'd probably get one with DX11 graphics card, SSD and some other features that didn't exist or didn't want to afford when I bought this one.

Are we ever really satisfied for long!?!
