I already asked this question in the M1530 owner's lounge, but the response was quite low and the solutions which google sugested didn't help, so now it's up to you guys. ^^

I have my M1530 for about a week now and yesterday a stuck pixel (= pixel which always remains 1 color, blue in my case) appeared on the top of my screen. (The outer edge, actually, right under my webcam)

What should I do ? It's constantly catching my eye. People already told me to live with it, but I'm looking at it every 5 sec. Can't help it. I will always know that it's there. It's driving me insane !

I was thinking of calling up dell and use my 4 year warranty to replace the screen. (First of all, do you guys think they will for just 1 stuck pixel ?) But I am one of the lucky ones to get an LG screen and I don't want them to replace it with a samsung one. :>

What would you guys do ?

If you just got it a week ago you`re still in your return period. Dell will replace the LCD or cross ship you a new unit. You also have the option of returning it and buying a new one.

Just call them, they will make this work.

Yup, I tried all those programs and manual methods already and nothing worked. I guess I'll be calling up dell then to try and resolve this issue. But I'll be damned if I get a samsung screen now ...

    Hi.

I had 2 cyan hot pixels, appear on my 20" laptop after i had had it for 2 weeks, I tried all the fixes i gave you, but nothing worked.

    So i returned it.

Most company's, will only accept a return if you have a few faulty pixels, I knew this so i told them that my display was flickering after it had been on for over 15mins

    regards

    John.

Oh man, this sucks big time. Been feeling ****ty all day now. I was so happy when I received my notebook at the start of this week and now this happens. My entire weekend shot to hell.

I really hope Dell can fix my problem asap. (Like next day on site) :(

    Hi.

It only takes one bad apple to spoil a barrel

I would send it back if it bothers you, but you might be in for a fight!

    Regards

    John.

No fight, he is under his return policy. Now if he wasn't there might be a fight, because every company has a "stuck pixel policy".

Hmm, is it possible that the stuck pixel disappears again after a while without you doing something ? Caus when I started up my notebook this morning the stuck pixel was gone.

I'll try running the notebook for a few hours again and see what happens.

    Hi.

Dell must have a zero faulty pixel policy, if they will accept a return for 1 pixel, most manufactures only accept returns of you have 3 or 4 faulty pixels.

    GOOD FOR DELL

    Regards

    John.

Yes, it is possible. That's why it's called stuck, not dead pixel. ;)

Either get used to it or hold on to those CRT's lol. A stuck pixel is just gonna happen with today's technology. I think I have at least a single stuck pixel on my 24" LCD monitor and my 42" plasma tv. Neither is really noticeable unless I look for them but they are there and I also kind of expect to have at least one or two at some point on my notebook.

Its possible to get screen thats dont have any but keeping them that way? Good luck.

Oh and if that ruined your weekend then it wasnt much to start with ;)

What I am saying, is that if he is under his return policy he can return it for whatever he feels like. Has nothing to do with their pixel policy. Now if he gets a restocking fee, I have no idea.

Ok so I phoned to the Dell warranty line and explained my problem. I said that after using the notebook for about half an hour a stuck pixel appears on my screen. They asked me where it was located and I was honest and said at the top of my screen. Ok so the guy puts me through to the xps warranty support where they eventually tell me that they are not going to fix my stuck pixel problem. They tell me that you need to have 5 to 6 dead/stuck pixels before they replace the screen. They also told me that I didn't take their "0 dead pixel policy" when ordering the notebook, but that option is not available on their website, nor by phone !!!

Anyway, at this point I decided to just send it back and order a new one, like you guys advised me. So they put me through to the return department, where the lady on the phone tells me that I have to pay for shipping the notebook back to them ... Now hold on to your seat, it would cost me € 187,55 !!! (= $ 290 !!!) to ship the notebook back.

Oh great, so if I decide to ship it back and order a new one, it would cost me allot more then I originally payed.

Can they do that ? Does this seem fair ?

You shouldn't be surprised. All manufacturers have 5 to 6 dead/stuck pixels policy. I talked with local Acer representative and he told me exactly the same as Dell representative told you.

Ok, so I phoned the return department again asking if I couldn't just bring the notebook back myself. :p The guy I had on the phone was however allot more helpful then the woman I previously had. He told me that I could avoid the shipping (and apparently some factory) costs by immediately ordering a new system. Ok, lol, that's what I wanted to do all along, the first woman simply forgot to mention that.

So anyway, all worked out fine for now: Dell will pick up my notebook in 2 days and I placed a new order for exactly the same one. And believe it or not, but I'm saving € 100 now. :D

Let's hope that I get an other LG screen and this time without any dead or stuck pixels.
