I made this thread because I'm curious to see what scores people have been getting on their systems before doing any tweaking.

I ran the test before I followed Les' procedure to reformat, so whatever drivers and settings were set were like that from the factory so stock speeds, whatever drivers, etc.

    T9300, 4GB RAM, 8600M GT, 250GB 7200 RPM drive, non-SP1 Vista Home Premium

I was pretty happy to see that considering that it's only a 8600m GT. I'm thinking with some tweaking I should be able to get at least 5500.

By "tweaking", I assume you mean Overclocking. With a massive overclock, I can break the 6K Barrier.

Correct. Also I mean using different drivers, changing settings on the computer, etc. But I was curious as to what people get when everything is at default and nothing is tweaked.

    Huh?

Jlbrightbill means that you have purchased a screen with a vertical height of less than 1024 pixels, and therefore will not be able to run 3dmark06 at the correct default res (1280x1024).

Therefore your 4700 marks are at a lower res than default (1280x800), and are not comparable with most other systems, and a (theoretic) realistic score at the correct default res would be noticeably lower. However your score sounds normal otherwise.

At the correct default resolution (1280x1024), average scores are in the 4200 region. With the right drivers and tweaking, you can get a score just under 4400 (stock clocks) or just touch 6000 (overclocked to maximum stable point).

With my WUXGA 2.4 Ghz, stock got me 4117 - which is close to what what Udi said.

Thanks guys for clearing that up. That's what I thought, as I would have sworn back when I was running 3dmark06 on my desktop rig, the resolution was a little taller. But good to see I'm getting the right scores.

And btw Lefix, since I read your sig, you didn't happen to get in on the slickdeal that was towards the end of April did you?

Nope, but i got a 25% off plus an additional 8% plus free next day air shipping, but the crazy slick deal was about the same price and you would have gotten a 3 year with complete care.. like Mattoc's laptop

I got the deal at the end of April. 40% off, and then 12% off EPP discount.

Nice, that's the deal I got in on as well. In fact, your total looks almost exactly like mine which was in the low 1300 range.

My 3dmark06 score with the original stock drivers was around 4200 but after I installed the new Dell drivers just released I am now at around 4900.
