I've just purchased a L502x and looked at possibly going for the squaretrade warranty. I just wanted to know if anyone has gone for this option rather then the extended dell warranty?
Also is Dell Outlet regarded as 'Refurbished computers' on the Squaretrade warranty or can it be classed as new? (not a silly question)

Well Dell Outlet computers are mostly refurbished units in that many are units that customers returned for some reason or another (minor scratches/dings or even just "I don't like it" reasons), or units that were built but the order was canceled or something like that. I know nothing about SquareTrade, but I would think they are considered refurbs for that.

why would you not just purchase a Dell warranty

Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
Squaretrade is okay, though you have to be wary of how almost all extended warranties work. You only get the amount you paid for as repair credit. So if you had a 299 laptop which has a defective motherboard outside of warranty, that is almost an instant buyout. If it was 500, you have 1 repair and it fails again, then you only get the amount minus the previous repair. Extending the manufacturer warranty is better because you get "infinite" repairs or they replace your unit, as long as it falls under the terms of warranty (you didn't drop/spill anything on your laptop unless you have accidental damage).
