My first xps had keyboard issues that would jump my typing all over the page and hotkey everything in the browser...very annoying. It also had some sound issues that would crackle and squeel when I played a youtube video, etc. I sent that laptop back to best buy and got this new one.....which has been doing fine once I downloaded the sound drivers off of dell's website, but now it is doing it again.

It is very annoying and not something I want to live with.....nor should I have to to with a laptop of this caliber. I really like this laptop, but I think I'm going to have to go with the HP hdx16 on my next exchange.

Anyone else have sound issues with theirs?

no, i had a problem with distorted audio caused by vibrating internal parts but not 'crackling or squealing.'

Not getting anything like that but since my update to SP2 I am getting crackles and pops in the speakers. Never had this before SP2 and I tried uninstalling SP2 but it remains.

crackles and pops have been attributed to the wlan card scanning for frequencies. there have been reports on how to resolve this in the dell forum. update the wlan card drivers, and see if disabling the n channel scan helps (granted you are not using an N based access point).

hmm...I'll have to check that out...I can disable the wireless card altogether and see ifthere is a difference. But for me it started after SP2 and even after removing it is still present now. Today I started getting a series of pops followed by a windows pop up telling me a host service needed to be stopped. So I fear something is defintely screwed after SP2...time for a fresh install.
