    Hi,

I just received my M1530 and its working fine.

The problem is that there is a scratch on the left edge of the lcd lid, like its been hit/dragged against something as the paint came off and there's a slight dent in the build. Its not big but deciding whether I should get it exchanged?

Yep, call Dell ASAP - don't delay. Just call them up and have em make it right... no sense in waiting.

You willl soon learn to treat the chatroom people as your personal *****es. I let no problem go on my laptop. My first palmrest was too rough from the brushing, the touchpad was unresponive and the right button got stuck alot. My optical drive was making noises, the plastic around the top of the keyboard wasnt flush with the rest of the laptop. The LED display developed a fine line in the screen a week after I got it. There was a white line on the top of the lid.

All of this was fixed in 5-6 home visits in the span of 3 weeks, 2 times they sent parts that were not for my laptop, involving MORE visits to my house. I always declined depot services because god knows what could happen to my baby while its gone.

These are wonderful laptops, once you step on 20 peoples toes to get them going and fix it.

This is a new notebook ordered online. I realise I should get it fixed in case I decide to sell it, but I don't want them to take the notebook and hold it for a couple of weeks.

Do the engineers come down to my place or do I have to send the notebook to them?

You can just tell them to send down the techs... and they'll do it. Never ever opt for Depot service. Too unreliable.... And do it ASAP.
