I've bought the 13.3" XPS and am loving it to bits. So much power in such a small frame!

    Here's my problems:

I keep getting hang ups and freezes (which admittedly have gone away this weekend!)
And there's no bluetooth but it was described as having bluetooth (not a huge deal, but I can make a fuss about it!).

I contacted Currys (the shop) about the above issues and they have offered a refund or replacement straight away. I referred them to this forum to show them how many have had the same problem!

Anyway, should I keep it? Or get the refund and buy something else?

It would be nice to hear from older 1340 owners that have lived with the thing!

Had mine for over a year now, been working nice.

Make sure you have the latest drivers and bios, as it fixes most hangups.
If you want you can check for the BT card by removing the big plate on the bottom of the computer. If its two there (wlan and bt) then you should check bios settings if bt is diabled or if the wireless buttn enables bt.

There is no bluetooth button and the driver wont install which is why I think its not there. Ill open it up tomorrow and have a look anyway. I might complain and screw a free bluetooth dongle out of them :)

I have had mine since January, first one they sent had issues, This one seems OK. But, the way I see it. YOU paid for a built in BT module, I'd tell them to send me the machine with the bluetooth built-in. Your already short on USB ports, why take up one of you only 2 with a BT dongle, with something you should already have, and paid for. Make them do an exchange on their nickle.

BT is extremely usefull ;) . When I recieve phone calls I can port them through my Laptop, when I'm tired of using the onboard mouse pad I use a BT mouse. I can transfer files via my cell phone to my laptop, I can connect to my desktop snag a file via BT from the living room. :) Your USB ports are limited if you travel, now you have to remember to bring your DONGLE  . I'd say get them to give you what you were sold. Not what they want to give you. You will be happier in the long run.

When you hook up your external Blue ray player ,which uses 2 USB ports you will still be able to control everything via you built in BT module with your mouse from the couch! :D
Whatever you choose I hope you get some enjoyment out it. :D

Well its going back. Im getting a refund, no matter what drivers I use the issue wont go away!

I've found this anyway. Your thoughts on that?

Obviously it wont quite have the high class finish of the XPS buts its more powerful.

I wish it wasn't going back to be honest!

Ben! I think this forum has a punch list so that you can fill it out with what you want in your laptop, then forum members can give you suggestion based on that and price point. The unit in the last post that you have a link to looks nice but it has dated Processors and you are paying a premium price. You get a whole 3 month warranty, a TFT screen! phooey. their are better deals

Some of the Dell products have the latest processors and come with very nice features if you are interested in Dell. for the price you are paying for the Acer roughly 700+ bucks U.S. Their are mega alternatives.

Look through the forum for the Spec sheet I saw months ago fill it out, post it, With todays electronics you need more than 90days 24/7 support.

    Thanks! I've done that now.

I will be sorry to see this one go!

It makes you wonder what quality control Dell have... Its an expensive product with some major design flaws that an idiot could have spotted!

Ben! That would make allot of people on this board idiots, and I think not. ;)

Just kidding I know what you mean QC is just a marketing ploy, very little real QC in today's products. More like a sampling and even then most have acceptable failure rates or diminished quality specs

look at all the threads of Dell customers getting replacements not good but, it could be NO replacements. I'm lucky I guess, My 1340 seems to be OK I don't game so I don't really stress the components like the GPU but I do like the screen size 13" easy to transport, carry. hope you can find what you are looking for. :)
