I have been having a problem with my LED m1530 screen. The story:
My computer was on and everything was fine..I shut the lid and went into the other room for a few min. I come back, open the lid, and displayed on my screen is what appears to be a cracked screen. At first you could see part of the desktop. Now its just black with various colors extending from the "cracked screen". The outer part of the screen is NOT cracked. I do not know if it is cracked inside or if maybe a cable went bad. I have to find out before I go buy a whole new screen to find out it was just a cable that went bad.

    Thanks

It'd help if you took a picture of the broken screen with a camera, then post the pic on here for us to look at.

Here you go. Like I said, the screen is not cracked on the outside..so I don't know if it's on the inside or if a cable went that would produce an image like a crack.

The 2nd picture is a closeup of the bottom left of the screen where the main "crack" is.

Yep, that's a crack to the LCD. Nothing you can do to fix it. The 'outer screen' is just a plastic cover, if something hit it, it would bend without damage, but the underlying LCD panel is still cracked. I'd call Dell to get a quote for a replacement.

Probably not the answer you wanted to hear, sorry :(

Actually it is what I wanted to hear. There is a great guide to replacing an m1530 LCD on this forum. I know the problem. I can buy the part and fix it. Thanks for your help in verifying the problem. I mean I was pretty sure it was just a crack to the inner part of the screen, but needed to know 100 percent it was the screen.

MY warranty with Dell is over and I'm sure they would quote like 400 when I can fix it myself for about 150 and an hour and a half of my time.
