One month old...here's the list of problems I'm having right now.

    1) DVD drive starts grinding when a disc is put in, then immediately spits it back out.
    2) Hard drive is going clickity-clack like crazy causing system to pause for 1 second at a time
    3) Area by mousepad gets uncomfortably hot while idling
    4) Screen always resets to retina burning 100%
    5) PC card slot holder is jammed and wont come out (inserted correctly)
    6) Hinge on left side is coming apart

    :(

Seems like you got a lemon >.<

Try contacting Dell with that list of problems and I'm prtty sure they'll avoid the hassle of repairs and just send you a new unit.

It seems like the clickity-clack sound from the HDD (with accompanying pause) has been an issue for many of us. It's still happening to me, and it's somewhat annoying, but it seems we're not alone (and could be a regular occurrence with the HDD they use...)

I use a fan-cooler pad, but if I don't, I notice the area on the mousepad gets relatively warmer than other places, too.

My DVD drive 'grinds' but it sounds normal, although the spitting-out situation seems like you've got a defective drive...

I got the motherboard, hard drive, optical drive, and subwoofer replaced. I'll let you know how it works out...
