I just ordered a SXPS 16 with the 128gb SSD option but I was browsing some of the older topics in the forum and people were saying that the 128gb SSD was an older model whereas the 256gb was new. Seeing as these threads were rather old I imagine it's probable that the current 128gb SSDs are now current but I thought I'd check in here first.

Basically: Are the current 128gb SSDs up to date or are they still an older model?

How older are these older topics? I'm pretty sure Dell should be only shipping new machines with the newer Samsung SSD(s) at all capacities (64GB to 256GB) by now.

the hardware id on the ssd of my newly bought xps 1647 is Samsung SSD PM 800 2.5. i dont think there is a new model or improved version of Samsung ssd out this year, so this 128gb ssd which came out last summer is still "up to date" apparently.

The 128GB doesn't have TRIM support, but can be enabled with a firmware flash found somewhere in these forums.

The 256GB has TRIM as standard...that's all I noticed.

Is the 128gb the PB22-J model? I believe that's the newer version.
