hey I have a studio xps 1640 and after a year this is the first time I tried using a SD card. When I plug the SD card in, my computer seems to recognize it as it makes a sound when plugged in and out but nothing shows up on my computer. I'm a computer newbie btw. Do I need to install a software for it to work? If so, what do I install and what model # is the SD card reader for this computer? Any help would be appreciated.

You might want to reinstall your card reader driver. It's probably a Ricoh, go to task manager and uninstall/reinstall the driver.

when I go on the Devices and Printers, I tried to uninstall the card reader driver but the uninstall button is faded so I can't even press it.

Also the SD card reader icon won't even show up on the Devices and Printers unless I plug in my SD card in the computer. When I plug in my SD card in and the SD card reader icon is shown in the Devices section, it says there is a problem with the driver. Is it because I have a SDHC instead of a regular SD card? I would think a 1640 would be able to read SDHC's.
