I just got the M1730 last week, but I found a few detects such as lighting problems on my screen when it is pitch black. The bottom and top parts have light leaking ( I'm guessing thats what you call it ). Also when I move my laptop, i see two circles appearing on my screen (Same effect as if you touched the screen).. They disappear after like 5 seconds, but it gets annoying seeing them whenever you move your laptop.

Can I return the laptop to dell and get credit, and pick up the all powerful?

    Thanks.

I think its 21 days from when it's shipped to you, for a return

Not sure, but at the very least you can get a refund, and use that to purchase a M17x, I'm sure you will have to put some more with it though lol.

Well I paid 1964, and was thinking about getting the base model of the all powerful with EPP Buy, which comes out to about $1800 something.

Is the Single 1gb Nvidia 260M Graphics card better than Dual 1gb Nvidia GForce 9800M GT?

I think that's wishful thinking, but you can certainly try.

The return policy is *21 days from date of invoice for a refund/replacement*

So, keep that it mind...The clock essentially starts ticking once you are actually invoiced (usually before shipment)...

    Cin ;) :)

Not against games that utilize SLI, but single vs single yes.

But the M17x is a nice machine, Quad Support, Dual GTX280 & ATI support, ddr3.

You would have to spend about 1.3k+ more to get a good spec'ed one though. Not sure about the ATI thing there.

I had a defective M1530 shipped to me recently. It was very hard to get through to them, I was very lucky to have had the extension number of the salesman who processed the order. He put in a request for an exchange of the machine.

However if you decide to go the exchange route, be careful. If the replacement is bad as well you will not be able to exchange it anymore.

Return might have 15% refurbishment fee or something like that.

Having had to do a return process recently (first M1330 died after two days of having it) I've got a bit of recent experience here.

First, make sure you are calling the XPS toll-free line. You get someone on the line potentially much faster than the normal support line.

Second, as Cin said, the 21 day period begins from your invoice date, not your ship date.

Third, be prepared to be transferred about. I'm not sure if its a ploy to get you to hang up, but I had 6 transfers before an actual person was able to process my return. Once I got to that person, it was quick and painless. Having to explain the other 5 times, however, was frustrating.

If you are looking to move to a different model. I'd suggest just returning your current one for a refund (assuming that there is a provable defect). Once the credit hits your account (mine was the same day it was received at the returns center), you can just order the new one you want.

Without a defect, however, you may be subject to a 15% fee.
