Hey guys, i've had my xps for a few years and need some advice

I just purchased a new PC as my XPS is getting old and the mainboard is a bit faulty in that it gets far too heated too quickly and I can only run one graphics card at a time

anyway, ive had it for so long ive switched to so many different OS's that i've lost all the initial factory settings and I want to give it to a family member as if it were new

what i mean by factory settings are the little blue info panel at the top right of the keyboard etc, all that displays now is XPS and none of the buttons work, I think I lost these when going back to windows XP

I also believe Dell had a partion on the HD to restore these settings which I have removed

The funny thing is all disgnostic tests come back normal but the XPS is running far too hot and if I turn on dual SLI the fans are running constantly and the laptop is even too hot to touch at some parts

    thanks for the help :)

Hit f8 during boot, and do a factory restore.

EDIT: Saw that you removed the recovery partition.

Well, you need to clean install and find all the drivers. Win 7 does a good job of it.
