Hey guys, would replacing my Western Digital 250GB WD2500BEVS with a 2 platter 500GB Seagate be beneficial at all other than the obvious space? My main concern is power consumption. Would it consume less or more power than my current WD drive or about the same? And would I notice the speed difference?

It would be faster because it will have higher storage density. The power consumption should be about the same, maybe even less.

what is the name (model) of the 500GB?

This article might help you, The 7200rpm Momentus 7200.4 should require more power than the slower 5400.6 or your current drive.
fwiw I am seriously considering the 500gb scorpio blue. -
Yeah I am only considering the Seagate 500GB because it is inside the Freeagent Go's which are available at Bestbuy where I have a giftcard to. There is supposed to be a sale for the 500GB Freeagent Go sometime soon at Bestbuy for about $100. Either 500GB Seagate or wait several more months till SSD's get cheaper. I already have 2 external portable 250GB and a 1TB external so I could wait a little longer.
Replacing 250GB Western Digital with 500GB Seagate benefits?
