Stupidly, I never tested my remote when I first got my M1530. I did a clean install of Vista and reinstalled the proper driver for the remote and its running but I've never been able to get my remote to do anything. Does it only work on certain programs? Regardless, I've tried using it in Media Direct and Media Player and it works in neither of them.

Is there anything else I need to do to get it working? Is there any way I can check that maybe its just a bum battery that came with the remote?

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Yeah, that was kinda stupid. Im unsure as I only used it for Windows Media Center but it does work in other media programs as well.

You could try buying a new battery for it, but that might be a waste of money.
If you know a friend or someone else with M1530, tell him to open up Windows Media Center and use your remote on his computer and if it works, then your remote is fine and its something your missing on your own laptop.

I had two M1530s at one point and when I used one remote and had Windows Media Center open on both, pressing the remote buttons controlled both of them at the same time. lol.

one of the stupid things about the remote and the touch capacitive buttons is that the program you are trying to change has to be front and center and selected or it wont do anything. I know thats the case for iTunes at least and it sucks

hmm maybe your Battery is Empty .... You can check if the remote is working using a Digital camera / Phone Cams / Laptop Camera ... just point the led in the remote towards the camera and start the taking the video ... you can see a Violet light from the led if its working
