I have a Dell xps L702x and somehow my recovery must have become corrupted. I tried to do a restore a few months back and during the process it had to cancel and then computer would not start. So I got a windows 7 cd and installed that way manually installing drivers. I needed to do another restore, but when I went to my recovery menu there was no option to do so. It is gone all together.

My question is if I have a friend that has the exact computer as me is there a way to copy his recovery to mine so I can restore to windows factory? I have had minor issues since manually trying to find and install some drivers.

Are you sure first your friend needs to check with their Service tag on dell site and see what hardware it has and you have to do the same as well to confirm what his hardware matches yours to know the disk will work. And also there is a change he has his own COA registered and using his will invalidate yours so no you can't use his if that is the case. Just contact Dell and re-order yourself some recovery cd/dvd and restore your computer if that is the case. I would say don't use their recovery for yours as it was registered to them already. Since you have Windows 7 why don't you go to the Dell site with your Service Tag and find your system and there they will have the drivers for your laptop to download and install to use the drivers to match your hardware. At least this way you can download the drivers and then reformat the HDD and then install the drivers and update and your system should be back working. And from the looks of it - it was a Windows 7 computer I think and with drivers from Dell site that should get you back running.
