For some dumb reason when I went to reinstall the OS from scratch I didn't use the Dell Factory Restore Option. I just used the Vista CD and had nothing but problems.

The problem is, if you install from the CD it overwrites the master boot sector on the C drive and so you can no longer access the option to repair and then restore the drive to factory condition.

I still have the D: Partition available with the mirror image of the original factory C Drive, but I can't get it to install.

Does anyone have any ideas of how to restore the C Drive Boot sector or is there anyway to boot the computer in a way that I can manually execute the program on the D drive that will restore the computer?

    Thanks

Oh MAN!!!! You are a life saver. I thought for sure there was no hope, even the dell tech said I was screwed.

I was trying to execute from the C Prompt but was using the PC restore program not the Image X and didn't know about the extra command options I needed to put in the execution line.

    Really Appreciate it!
