Hey guys, my xps 15 is coming on monday, however it has only 2gb ram lol. didn't fancy paying 70quid for dell to put 4gb in, so what choices do i have for ram? i don't really understand much about it other than the dell ram will definatly be ok in my laptop, except its 55pounds, isnt that expensive?

i have a 1 gb stick lying around but i think the speed of it is slower than the 2gb already in the laptop.

thanks, i bought some ram, just 1 4gb stick to put in with the 2gb already in there. i believe the stick is 1600 but i may be wrong, treated myself to a gaming mouse as well since my genius mouse has so much dirt and dna embedded into it that it makes my mates gag on sight.

That wont work. As you ordered the laptop with 2 GB RAM, likely it came with two 1 GB sticks, so you can't add 4 GB in addition to the 2 GB as both slots are in use.

Ram speed has no real world performance gains, even with HD 3000 gpu. Whatever is cheapest with a lifetime warranty that is a brand name and you get no BSOD and it passes memtest.

You can get 4GB sticks from corsair for about £15 or so on ebuyer. They have a pretty decent warranty and I've never heard of anyone having problems with them.

I'd stay away from the ultra cheap no-name stuff though. To save a pound or two you do without the lifetime warranty you get from people like corsair.
