Right now I have 2GBs of ram with a timing of 5-5-5-15 in my XPS m1210. Would I notice any performance increase giong to 4GBs of RAM with a timing of 4-4-4-12? I do know that a 32bit OS will only see about 3.2-3.5GBs out of 4GBs.

I take it you are thinking of putting in 4GB of 667Mhz low latency (4-4-4) ram?

There will be a performance difference. The machine should be slightly faster and smoother.

Whether the difference would be noticable or measurable I don't know.

I have a Macbook Pro owning friend who put 5-5-5-15 Ram in his Macbook Pro and he found the machine less smooth and even slightly less stable then with the original 2GB of lower latency Ram in it (Mac's come from the factory with lower latency ram then all the PC laptops I've seen including the M1530). So you might notice a difference.

You will definitely notice a performance gain going from 2GB to 4GB of Ram (or even 3.5GB under 32bit Vista).

There is no difference other than during synthetic benchmarks.

From what I read on another forum, almost everyone that has "upgraded' to low latency RAM has reported that they see no difference in performance. Some people report their Windows Experience Index went from 5.0 to 5.1. That's about it.
