So I just got my new m1530 last week and so far I am loving it so far. It doesn't seem to have any of the chronic problems like the keyboard buldge and the grainy screen (even though I got the AUO one it still looks great) but I have a few problems:

    1. Sometimes when I start it up when it is plugged in, right after the Dell screen it says there is something wrong with my ac power wattage and that my battery may not charge. The battery still charges fine but is this something I should be worried about? I have the 6V battery if that matters.

    2. What is considered normal noise from the hard drive? I have found it clicks and grinds a bit even when I am not doing anything. I have the 320gb 5200 rpm HD not sure on the make.

    3. Sometimes when I put it to sleep, it restarts and says that it recovered from an unexpected error. How can I stop it from doing this?

keyboard bulge is probably because of a incorrect screw beneath the keyboard..

    (1) power wattage issue is common... just press f1 and continue... its an issue lots of people are seeing, and many different fixes work for many different people.. but nothing to worry.. probably it would be (I hope) fixed with the next bios update may be. if u want check the m1530 power adapter thread.. there' a long one already..

    (2) its normal.. its most probably the indexing / superfetch from within vista.. nothing to worry. superfetch is a nice thing, you can turn off indexing though...

    (3) sleep issues, again, have been common.. and for me, I usually avoid letting it sleep... else I simply shut it down.. didn't really care to mess with the sleep function, after reading about it...

But are you seeing any error codes? there are some settings for wakeup from within BIOS (not sure what its though!!) if u can get the error details specifically, it would be easier for people to help u out...

    Cheers.

till then may be u can read this.. just one among many info out there..

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929734/en-us

but if u get to know whats the error message like, its more helpful to fix the issue or try to find a fix at least :) cheers.

And btw, regarding the hard drive activity, it may also be some virus real time scan if u have NIS... because NIS has some builtin in idle time scan features.. so there.. just thought I will let u know.
