Try typing Creative or Audigy in your Start Search.
See if you can find something to start up an interface for tweaking sound quality.

Do you get any extra inputs or outputs if you go for the soundblaster card instead of regular integrated sound?

I'll hop on board since I finally got around to installing the audioblaster just now after getting my xps m1530 a few days ago. I cannot really tell instantly if it works unless of course I use the EAX effects or use the graphic equalizer.

It's basically the Sound Blaster Audigy DSP (digital signal processor) in software form. Among other things, it adds EAX 3.0 (64-channel software wavetable with DirectSound acceleration) without the need for Creative Labs hardware. The DAC (Digital-to-analog convertion) is rated 95dB Signal-to-Noise Ratio, which is really good since you get a warm audio signal from a digital source with minimal noise.

If you love music and/or are a sound freak, you owe it to yourself to get this.

so why the speaker icon shows "Sigma High Defenition Audio CODEC".....where is SoundBlaster Audigy? ....it will work if you tweak it manually, eventhough changing the set up sttill Sigma high def audio is working at the background.

you need to remember the creative is only software that works with the sigma
if you open your audio it will say creative if you have it installed.

i cant help but butt-in and say if you cant tell if its working, either it probably isnt, or its of no benefit to you :p
ive got the expresscard audigy and it really helps if you listen to high quality music (>192kbs, etc) or want TRUE surround sound, not fake surround sound haha
i'm not sure if it was worth all the extra money, but if you've already got nice speakers and want to take advantage of them, get the hardware

So is it the concensus then that this Audigy Software DOES in fact improve sound quality and output??? becuase the standard sigmatel soundcard is rather average - high latencies etc...

i'm satisfied with the sound of my xps 1530...the problem is i can't see the audigy soundblaster works at the background because its showing Sigma Tel on my speaker icon not Audigy.

@Adrian Stanford: i dont think software is going to improve latency by very much if at all

@XPSboy: go to the sound properties in the control panel and see if you can change your default audio device from the sigma tel to the audigy.

i dont see Audigy option in Sound properties....i guess it can't be change.

so it means that Audigy SoundBlaster can be used manually when you tweak it but will not work in the background (because sigma tel is the default sound system).
