    Hello,
I had bought this computer exactly 2 month back from Best Buy. Couple of time I had to contact Dell due to start up problems and each time had to do clean install again losing all I had installed and documents.

Just today I was waiting for my computer to shut and I noticed that screen is not properly fitted. On Left side where in that screen aluminum screw are fit, right that its slightly out of its surrounding frame.

Now since Best Buy replaces them in 30 Days. What are the Options? Should I contact dell and will they be able to replace it?

    Thanks

Yes, contact Dell. They should be able to help you, by letting you send it in to the depot for repair or shipping you the parts.

hi thanks. I did contacted dell.

Guy told me to take a picture of it n show him once he logged in my computer, I showed him picture of it. And crack between LCD n Frame was visible, so he said technician will get part and he will come and replace it.

While he was in my computer, I also took picture of my laptop's keyboard, above escape key as there is bit more gap, can see visible space, light of power button through that gap.

So he talked to his supervisor and said he will replace that part with lcd too. I am satisfied but my gf got upset saying its just little over month and hasn't used much and had to format 3 time already due to start up errors so demand new one hehe.

Lets hope they put new parts instead refurbished one. Thanks.

    Hi,
I had technician came by, he took off my screen and when he opened replacement lcd box, he found out they shipped Red instead black one, haven't even seen red studio xps 16 so far so wonder where that came from. But he didnt put it on, said will have to wait now for right one to be shipped to him. He put my old LCD back on, he did fix little gap between inner lcd and surrounding frame. However, more seems he mad mess. Now on left down corner, where round xps is written and lights is around it, screw part of lcd, has more gap between silver base and bar its attached to. More visible space between power button - media buttons bar and esc key. can be said its not assembled well. Keyboard keys missing strokes, specially u, t, h. Speaker Quality is surprisingly got worst, dont know wot happened there but I had hit my hand on my ears thinking may be I am in sleep.

I contacted dell support, they said dont worry we will get it fixed. However, Black LCD, Media Bar is not in stock, so will have to wait till it comes and they dont know when it will come but will send when it comes :(

I asked them it will be good if they can just replace pc as its just been month and half and I been using it since 3 weeks and I had to format 3 times due to start up errors and had to lose all I installed and saved and right now I am not saving or installing anything keeping my fingers crossed to see what happens here. But they insisted on replacing.

So, here is what they will replace they said -

    LCD
Whole Media Bar and Top Part
    Keyboard
Hard Drive due to Start Up Failures.
And Now seems they will have to look up speakers too I guess.

Now, I feel like I am getting Refurbished computer for the price of new one hehe. They said wait for 7-10 business days and will be contacted regarding parts.

Will they Replace system with new one if I ask them straight ?

Dell usually only replace a computer if there has been a problem 3 times over with the same piece of hardware.

Probably the best thing to do is tell them how unhappy you are and ask what they will do to keep a valued customer. Tell them that you will tell your friends of their poor build quality and bad customer service if they don’t do anything.

They probably won’t give you anything anyway... but I would say this is your best bet ;)
