Should I be terribly concerned that the top left material above the two usb ports wiggles just a tiny tiny bit? Does anyone elses move just a little if pushed from the upper left or lower right on their m1530? its the brushed metal part by the hinge and above the two usb ports.

No, nothing moves in my case.. probably its just the brushed metal covers not seated in properly... try pushing it from both ends simultaneously with equal, but mild pressure... see if it works.

    also...is anyones wifi switch loose?

those are really the only two complaints i have with the laptop...if these are normal and insignificant matters...then i guess i can live with it.

but, i don't know what the norm is and if the metal part is really an issue or what can dell actually do about it?

the wifi switch? i don't know the norm on that either...

Which particular part are you taking about? Is it the actual aluminum brushing on top of the two USB ports...left of the XPS logo? If it is, mine does not face the same "wiggling" issue.

However, to note...thee are two "wiggly" portions on my newly purchased XPS1530.

One is the wireless on/off switch...which seriously feels like it's gonna fall right off as it wiggles up and down.

Another area which really annoyed me at first in terms of workmanship was the black plastic layer above the webcam and the microphones. Every time I open the laptop it always seems to creak. So I forcibly pushed it down just enough to put it in place. But every now and then it stills wobbles. It frustrates me because the webcam area is a very delicate part, and me having to always push the plastic back in might damage it in the long run.

Does anyone else experience these faults in workmanship???

yes, the portion i'm talking about is the actual aluminum brushing at the top of the two usb ports.

and did u call dell about it?

...i would like to know what i should do...i really love my laptop...and cosmetic issues kinda irritate me...but, if its something that people encounter and isn't really a big deal...then i guess ill mellow out.

Well, I didn't call Dell about it, and probably don't intend to. I've read numerous professional reviews regarding the workmanship and many already mentioned that you're bound to experience some faulty areas in such.

Well, the flimsy areas of my notebook are not that much of an issue. I mean, they're irritating, but I think it's something that Dell would just pass off since so many people experience it.

But if it comes to the point where the plastic guarding my webcam cracks open, or my wireless switch falls right off...then I'll probably call them about it.

My Wifi Catcher on the side has always been a little *loose - wiggly*..but it hasn't presented any prob's so I don't worry about it! And, I have had my lappy since 1/08 - so I consider that to be a good thing! Hope that helps you! ;)
