Heyy everyone. I am having one problem with my XPS M1530 and that is when I put in any original DVD movie and then I try to play it with Media PLayer, I get and error and I cant play it. It says I need some MPG-2 Codec or something, so this means I can watch movies in my Computer.

I was wondering if anyone knows of a good program to view DVDs on my computer or something, a codec or a driver that I am missing, to view my movies. I once tried to change my OS of Vista to XP but then I changed my mind. Most of the stuff was gone in the system and then reinstalled....so maybe I think I am missing installing something because it cant be impossible to view a movie in my M1530. Someone please help me. THANKS!!!!

this has nothing to do with your laptop hardware... its cuz your windows media player doesnt have the mpeg-4 codec. -_-

yea true that. all you really need to do is update and download codecs. but vlc is the best player anyways. so just use it. it will have all the proper codecs

sometimes dvds will not play in Windows Media Player because of the codec issues. however most of time when you purchase a new laptop or desktop they will include specific software to view dvd movies.

for instance my new latitude came w/ PowerdDVD software to watch movies, etc. i get that error when i try to play it through WMP. so just reinstall your software that came w/ your laptop to watch movies and you should be fine.

    good luck.
