Hi guys, I just received my M1730 today. It looks great. But there is an issue occurs and I hope you guys can help me.
    Here is the System configuration:
    _ Intel Core 2 Duo T8300(2.4GHz, 800Mhz, 3M L2)
    _ 4GB of DDR2
_ 1GB Nvidia Dual GeForce 9800M GT SLI
    _ 320 GB 7200rpm Seagate Hard Drive
_ Microsoft Windows Vista 64-bit Edition

I tested the laptop with COD Word at Conflict Benchmark and the frame rate was about 12 (maximum) for max setting, 14 (maximum) for medium setting. I can not play the game smoothly and I don't know what the reason is?
I hope you can help me with this problem, I don't want to spend a lot of money and then can't play new games that I like.
    All helps appreciated!

Thanks for the comment, I just enabled SLI mode as you said. It's still really slow, not much different compared to single video card. I set the game at Very High and the Frame rate is going between 2 to 11.
    Any suggestion for that?

I don't know about that but you might be right. I got it yesterday evening but open the box just this morning. The laptop is updating. But I'm not sure why it is necessary to wait until the updated is done to play the game nicely?

In that case after installing Nvidia 185.85 driver, reboot, re-enabled SLI and if you want too Physix X. Re-install the game and reboot then try agian?

I performed the steps as you said but the frame swings around 1 to 12. So sad!

Contact XPS Support. They will verify all is set correctly after you describe the issue. You just received the lappie - give them a call.

Not really - I think its more of a configuration issue. They can verify (with you on the phone) how you have the settings and which driver, etc. If it does turn out to be a HW issue, they can deal with it right away. This is better in your case than having us all guess and take stabs in the dark suggesting things to try.

I contacted with a Dell agent and he suggested me to do the diagnostic check by holding <Fn> key before pressing Power button. He told me to check with the Graphic card but I don't know how to since the computer automatically checks the entire itself.

He should have gone over the entire troubleshooting process. Call back and get a better Rep. Horrible he left you hanging like that. They shouldn't end the call until you have resolved the issue or a service dispatch has been created.

Have you tried other games as well? Or have you gotten a chance to run 3dmark06 if you have it?

Yeah, I ran 3dmark06 on it, and the score was 10567 something. Does it say anything about the hardware? Anything wrong?

I'm not sure about your super low framerates mentioned earlier, but as for my 1730, I have the 2.1ghz cpu and even with gpu overclock settings, my fps and 3dmark scores remain the same, which lead me to believe that I am severely cpu bottlenecked. If you do the same as experience something similar, perhaps it's the same issue. That's just my guess.

I have been checking with Crysis Demo, the setting was Very High in every option, and the game seems to be smoothly played. But Crysis was about 2 years ago. Any susgestion about what game (demo) I should get to test my machine?

From you first post I wasn't sure which game you had installed World in Conflict or COD World at War.
I installed the WIC demo to get some results. 2 items of note; Sli is working even though the setup is defaulted to 1 display adapter and cannot be changed. The low point on the benchmark also showed minimal Sli activity compared to the rest of the BM. For COD World at War your results should be much higher and you should be able to play this game at the highest settings without any problem. Compare the game setups.
Here is my game setups and some resuts:

I had World in Conflict. Set eveything to medium then ran the benchmark, the highest frame rate was 16 and lowest was 4.
