Every now and then my PC goes through the bootup process but as Win7 (x64) starts loading, it says Please Wait... and then the screen starts flashing continuously... wont take me to the login screen. only way Dell reckons to resolve it, is to go in Safe mode and go back a Restore point. Anyone have any better advise? Dont know if its a driver or Win update causing it.... I'm suspecting it could be the Fast Access facial recognition, which i've now disabled.

If this only started happening recently, I venture that this is a good idea. If it's always been happening, you may want to try updating some of your older drivers?

ya. thanks. might wait another week and see if disabling FR has fixed it. if not, I'll give your suggestion a go, although I think I'm up-to-date. how do I know for sure? Is there a program that searches your own current config and compares it to latest drivers?
