    Hello Team,

I need urgent help. I just got my new XPS M1330 With 128MB Graphic Card.

Now when i connect to my XPS M1330 with my External Monitor (Dell 24" 2408WFP) Resolution: 1920X1200

I don't see good sharpness in fonts and image. I have set native resolution that is 1920X1200

I also have Inspiron 1720 (256 Mb Graphic Card)

There its show very fine and sharp fonts and pictures.

I use VGA cable in both the systems.

Now when i talk to Dell Teach Department.

They gave me few reasons as below.

    • My laptop screen is 13.3" and Monitor screen 24" (i know this is silly reason:mad: ) (but i argued with him and then he gave me 2nd reason)

    • My XPS M1330 have lower graphic card (128MB Geforce 8400M GS) that is the reason i can't see clear display. To see clear sharp text and images i need batter graphic card (more then 128MB).

so he said he can't help me. It is not problem of XPS M1330.

What should i do? Does anyone of you using XPS M1330 with 1920X1200 Resolution?

    Regards,
    Maksa

dell tech department? more like BS department.

ANY graphics card should be able to give you sharp fonts and images. IGPs like x3100 can render desktops at 1920*1200 fine! hey, dell tried to tell me that the 8600m gs and 8600m gt are the same card, when they messed up my order.

I'd say you try and get dell to pick up your xps for repairs.

I think the M133O's 8400M GS can actually power two displays, each at 1680x1050, so it follows that it can easily power one at 1920. Of course, you might try closing the screen on your laptop first (make sure your power settings won't hibernate your laptop as a result of closing the lid), then going into the nVidia control panel and (re)setting the resolution to 1920.

had a similar thing happen on my 1720 once...
i pluged in the external monitor and some how everything wasnt clear..
first thing i thought was the "cleartype" thing..
it didnt work.. restarted the laptop and everything was back to normal never happened again..

check the if the cleartype is turned on.. in vista go to control panel-->personalization-->window color and apperance-->(if runing aero) open classic apperance...--->effects--->enable smooth edges-->cleartype.

probably wont do anything.. try restrating, with and without the external monitor see if that fixes anything..

Did you get it working yet?

I have my m1530 hooked up to my 2408WFP via HDMI and it is working well. Never tried it any other way, so I don't know how to solve this problem. Sorry!

Is there an adjustment button on your 24 inch monitor? I had to hit the auto-adjustment button on the 24 inch monitor with various VGA outputs. I finally went to Digital and didn't have to adjust the screen anymore.

    Try auto-adjusting the monitor.

Dell monitors are comparatively STUPID when it comes to figuring out VGA. Auto-adjust barely does anything...

Go into the Dell monitor OSD (on screen display) and find the options to change the phase of the signal. Adjust it until you get a clear display.

Auto-Adjust on my 24 inch Dell LCD display did wonders for sharpening things up.

I've tried the USB to DVI adapters and these work quite well for non-gaming purposes. Unfortunately I think that they only go up to 1600x1200.

    thanks everyone! :)

I have tried all different ways. But it didn't work so i thought to try with new graphic drivers. And i downloaded latest Graphic Card Driver from Nvidia site. And my problem got solved.

now everything looks sharp and smooth with VGA Cable. But once thing i learn from my experience never ask help from Dell Teach. Department. They dont know anything. :D

now using 1920x1200 resolution :) and loving it.

I fully intend to myself around the time the M1330's replacement launches as I'm buying that too by all speculative accounts.

    ...

So, I may be waiting some time. :)
