I'd installed XP on my XPS M1330 about 2 months back and it's been working perfectly except for one thing.

My mic stops working after every reboot. I have to reinstall the drivers again for it to work.

So far I've tried the following driver files:
    • R181712
    • R171789
    • R158235

All of them are giving me the same problem.

I know a lot of you have installed XP, I'm wondering how I'm stuck with this problem.. Please give me a solution.

    Thanks a lot..!

Are you using external mic and are you installing drivers maunally from device manager ?

No, I am using the built-in mic.. And I tried installing one of the files once through device manager, and thought it had worked after one reboot, but it reverted back again to the same condition.

This might sound dumb but check and make sure that its not just disabling your mic as the default recording device. Check that menu make sure its enabled and that it is default.Make sure you show disabled devices as well. Also make sure your mic is set as a mic and not a line in. Check these things first.

    Hope this helps

    Thanks for the reply..
If you mean the sound options in the control panel, the Voice Playback and Sound Recording devices both show as "SigmaTel Audio".
