    Just gathering some info:

What is your current Battery Wear Level? (You can get this information using BatteryBar [free] or NotebookHardwareControl (NHC), free)

I currently have a Dell XPS M1330 6-cell, 8 months, 7.9% wear on the battery...

(i can't seem to find a program that checks the battery charge cycles.... any suggestions?)

    I have 1.5% wear for almost 8 months. :p

I guess this means the Battery Care function actually works! :D

Oh, I like this; I've got three figures for you (all figures from RMClock):

Dell Latitude D620. This one's pretty awful:

Somewhere between 24 and 36 months old.
    Designed capacity: 57720 mWh.
    Fully charged capacity: 5106 mWh.
    Battery wear: 91.15%.

Dell Latitude E6400. Hard to say much about this one:

    About 3 months old. Refurb.
    Designed capacity: 57720 mWh.
    Fully charged capacity: 57720 mWh.
Battery wear: 0% (I'd hope so for a three-month old machine).

HP TC4200. This one is quite frankly amazing:

Just over 36 months old. This is the 38th month.
    Designed capacity: 44189 mWh.
    Fully charged capacity: 44189 mWh.
    Battery wear: 0%.

And that's not a mistake as far as I can tell. I've been running this thing down to 15% in about three and a half hours basically every other day for the past year.

When I first got my brand new laptop (XPS M1530) last year in March, Everest showed a wear level of 6%. After 13 months the wear level increased to 14%.

it's more accurate to use BatteryPro or NHC to check the existing wear condition...

the batteries(like my 56W 6-cell) are designed to withhold 53,169mWh, but they have higher capacities to start with(57720mWh).... BatteryPro calculates your actual wear level from the higher capacity, which is the accurate indicator of battery wear...

so i guess a 'typical' battery wear level is 1% for every month of use..
