So, Dell has been kind enough to finally update their Insprion line of laptops as well as some of their small business laptops (with more to come with the imminent release of the Vostros).

They have also updated one of the three XPS laptops with the new XPS M1330.

However, they have yet to update the M1710 and the M2010.

Does anyone have ANY word on when such a release will happen? Maybe this will happen with the Vostro releases...

Please post any information relating to a future update of the XPS M1710.

    Thanks.

I doubt they will update the 20in model that is pretty new if I recall. But seeing as the M1330 seems to be doing well and creating a lot of buzz I would not be suprised to see a 15.4in or 17in variants. Timeline is anyones guess, if they started working on it with the M1330 then soon, if they have not started then not soon at all. :p

Hmm, that does make sense. To be honest with you, I do not really care about an updated M2010. I am waiting for the refreshed XPS M1720.

I have seen some pictures of it on the internet; pictures were posted during the M1330 craze (as well as with the Inspiron pictures).

    Hmm...

    I'm looking for them now...

I'm surprised you have not seen them yet. They were posted on that same Italian site and that strange message board with the info. of the other updated Dell laptops. I'm having a hard time finding them right now. I believe I originally found the link here on these forums.

There is a slight chance I have mistaken them for the pictures of the new Inspirons, but I'm not sure...

I found the engadget story, and they only mention the new Inspirons and the new business line. I did not see an 17in XPS.

I would try watching for the new GeForce 8800M to be released rather than trying to watch for Dell--a release date for the 8800M is probably a better indicator of when the next beast will come out. Plus you'll start seeing other vendors, e.g. Sager, trying to get the 8800M.

I gave up and got the current Dell beast...it's cheaper than the new one will be and I only play old games anyway. And I need it by early august...ship date is July 23, so it's a good thing I left extra time.
